Jon Lester (L), David Phelps (R)

After being spanked last night, the Boston Red Sox look to play spoiler tonight in the second game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Yankees television market, you can catch the game on YES. If you don’t live in either market you are in luck as well as the MLB Network will coverage of the game (outside of Red Sox and Yankees televison markets). If you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to it on the Red Sox radio network.

Jon Lester looks to do what Clay Buchholz couldn’t do last night and that’s finish strong in his 33rd and final start of 2012. In his previous 32 starts, Lester is 9-14 with a 4.94 ERA. He’s made four starts against the Yankees this year and is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA. Lester has made 21 career starts against the Evil Empire and is 9-4 with a 4.27 ERA. 12 of those starts have come in the Bronx where he is 7-2 with a 3.70 ERA.

David Phelps takes the start for a struggling Ivan Nova as he looks to help the Yanks clinch the AL East tonight in his 11th start (33rd appearance). In his previous 32 appearances (10 starts), Phelps is 4-4 with a 3.34 ERA. His four career appearances (two starts) against the Red Sox have come this season in which he is 1-1 with a 3.44 ERA.
