Jon Lester (L), Phil Hughes (R)

After losing the last two games and seeing their season slowly starting to slip away, the Boston Red Sox will look to get back on track and salvage a split of their four-game set with the New York Yankees this afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

This afternoon’s game will start at 2:05 p.m. and will be shown on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Yankees television market, you can watch the game on YES. And if you don’t live in either market, you’re in luck as well as the MLB Network will be broadcasting the game as well. If you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2010 Red Sox radio network.

The last time 2010 All-Star Jon Lester pitched at Yankee Stadium was in late September of 2009 and he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Melky Cabrera on his knee. Today, he’ll make his 23rd start of 2010 and look to end a four-game losing streak. In his previous 22 starts, he is 11-7 with a 3.07 ERA. He’s faced the Yankees twice this season and is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA. In 10 career starts against the Yankees, Lester is 4-1 with a 4.01 ERA. He’s made five career starts against the Yankees in New York and is 2-1 with a 2.81 ERA.

2010 All-Star Phil Hughes steps in for Dustin Moseley who had to take the start of an injured A.J. Burnett last night. Hughes has made 20 starts this season and is 13-4 with a 3.96 ERA. He has made two starts in 2010 against the Red Sox and is 1-0 with a 5.25 ERA. He’s made 10 career apperances (four starts) against the Red Sox and is 1-2 with a 6.48 ERA.
