Freddy Garcia (L), Josh Beckett (R)

After getting back into a tie for first place last night, the Red Sox look to regain sole possession of it in game three of a three-game set with the New York Yankees at Historic Fenway Park tonight.

Today’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Where available, you can also catch the game online at ESPN3.com. And if you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2011 Red Sox Radio Network.

Josh Beckett looks to help the Red Sox take back first place by themselves in his 22nd start of 2011. In his previous 21 starts, Beckett is 9-4 with a 2.20 ERA. Beckett has owned the Yankees this year as he is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA (2 ER/21 IP) in three starts against them. He’s made 25 career starts against the Bronx Bombers and is 13-7 with a 5.52 ERA. 12 of those starts have come at the Fens where he is 5-4 with a 6.13 ERA.

Freddy Garcia makes his 21st appearance (20th start) of 2011 for the Evil Empire. In his previous 20 appearances (19 starts), Garcia is 10-7 with a 3.22 ERA. In three appearances (two starts) against the Red Sox this season, Garcia is 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA (9 ER/8 IP). He’s made 19 career appearances (18 starts) against the local nine and is 8-4 with a 4.82 ERA. Eight of those appearances (seven starts) have come at the Fens where he is 3-1 with a 4.60 ERA.
