Marco Estrada (L), Jake Peavy (R)

After taking their first series of the season, the Boston Red Sox return home to Fenway Park this afternoon to begin a six-game homestand. They’ll get it started today with the first game of a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Brewers market, you can catch the game on Fox Sports Wisconsin. If you don’t live in either market you’re in luck as the MLB Network will have coverage of the game. And if you can’t catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2014 Red Sox Radio Network.

The Red Sox ring ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on NESN.

Mr. I Bought a Duck Boat Jake Peavy gets honor of the starting the 2014 Red Sox home opener. Peavy made 23 starts in 2013 between the Chicago White Sox and Red Sox and he was 12-5 combined with a 4.17 ERA. He made 10 starts with the local nine and was 4-1 with a 4.04 ERA. He last faced the Brewers in 2008 when he went 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA as a member of the San Diego Padres.  In nine career starts against the Brew Crew, he is 3-3 with a 2.48 ERA.

Marco Estrada makes his first trip to the bump in 2014. In 2013, he was 7-4 with a 3.87 ERA in 21 starts. His lone appearance against the Red Sox came in 2011 at the Fens when he took the loss after allowing three runs in four innings of work.
