No it’s not a comedy team but the New England Patriots have signed defensive back Derrick Martin and running back Kareen Huggins to contracts.

Martin, a safety from Denver, CO, played his college ball at the University of Wyoming and was a sixth round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2006 NFL Draft.  He was traded to Green Bay in 2009 and earned a Super Bowl Ring in 2010 with the Packers despite being on the injured reserve list since October.  In 2011 he played with the New York Giants and was on his second consecutive Super Bowl championship team.

Huggins is a full back from Irvington, NJ who played his college football with Patriots CB Kyle Arrington at Hofstra.  He signed with Tampa Bay in 2009 as an undrafted free agent and after two seasons with the Buccaneers. he did not play last season.

UPDATE 8/5: Huggins was released by the Patriots on Sunday morning.
