Because of the way the NCAA women’s college basketball polls work, the AP Poll comes out on Monday and the USA Today Coaches Poll comes out on Tuesday. Don’t ask me why this is.

For that reason, the UConn Huskies are the No. 1 team in the AP Poll (Monday). But in the USA Today Coaches Poll (Tuesday), the Stanford Cardinal jump from No. 6 to No. 1 after beating UConn on Monday night.

In the AP Poll, UConn is followed by the South Carolina Gamecocks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tennessee Volunteers and Texas A&M Aggies. In the Coaches Poll, Stanford is followed by Notre Dame, South Carolina, UConn and Tennessee.

There are no other teams ranked from the American Athletic Conference. However, the South Florida Bulls are among the others receiving votes in the AP Poll.
