UConn Huskies Depth Chart For South Florida

South Florida Bulls @ UConn Huskies

UConn Huskies interim head coach T.J. Weist has released his first depth chart since taking over the head coaching duties for Saturday's tilt against the South Florida Bulls and there are some changes as he discussed on Friday..

Obviously, we all know that Tim Boyle has ascended to the top of the depth chart at quarterback with Chandler Whitmer backing him up. Casey Cochran has been dropped off the two deep and is the third string QB.

What's interesting to me is that RT Kevin Friend, WR Shakim Phillips and LB Graham Stewart have all been removed from the two deep. The trio has been hurt and not played in a bit. Obviously we'll learn more about their statuses on Tuesday.

With Friend not on the two-deep at right tackle, Dalton Gifford is listed as the starter with Xavier Hemingway as his backup. Kamal Abrams, who has missed the first four games after knee surgery, is listed as the starter at WR instead of Phillips. John Green backs up Abrams. Jefferson Ashiru is the starter at LB instead of Stewart with Omaine Stephens the backup.

The suspension of Tyler Bullock puts Kyle Bockeloh and Bryan Paull in an "OR" situation as the backup to Alex Mateas at center. Also along the offensive line, Kyle Shafenacker and Tyler Samra have switched backup guard spots.

The only other move on defense besides Stewart is that Andrew Adams is now listed as the backup to Obi Melifonwu at safety. Adams had been injured in the final open practice.

On special teams, Lyle McCombs is now listed as one of the kick returners along side Deshon Foxx instead of Phillips.
