UConn CB Taylor Mack (29) gets congratulated by members of the defense after his interception late in the 4th quarter against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT on November 30, 2013.

The UConn Huskies football team has been playing some good football the past few weeks and some players are getting some well deserved recognition for their contributions.

UConn CB Taylor Mack was honored by the American Athletic Conference on Monday as the Defensive Player of the Week.

In the 28-17 win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Mack keyed a UConn secondary that limited Rutgers to 47-percent passing for the game, while he came up with two fourth-quarter interceptions to preserve the Huskies’ win.

Mack had seven tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups in addition to his two picks. Mack’s second interception came on the UConn 13-yard line with 1:58 left, allowing the Huskies to hold on to the 11-point lead.

UConn QB Casey Cochran was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll as well.

In the win, he completed 25 of 33 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-17 win against Rutgers.
