The 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday morning by Mike & Molly’s Melissa McCarthy and Fringe’s Joshua Jackson and we find HBO’s “Mildred Pierce” leading the way with a total of 21 nominations.

Emmy AwardAMC’s Mad Men came in second with 19 nominations while the new HBO series Boardwalk Empire had 18. ABC’s Modern Family had the most of the non-cable channels with 17.

One of my favorite shows, Friday Night Lights which will air its season finale on NBC, unless you’ve already seen it on DirecTV, picked up a total of four nominations.

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will air live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on Sunday, September 18th at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT on the FOX Network.
