The Associated Press released it’s women’s basketball Preseason All-American Team on Tuesday afternoon and we find two UConn Huskies student-athletes on the team.
Junior Maya Moore, a unanimous choice, and senior Tina Charles were selected as two of the five student-athletes on the team. They are joined by Stanford’s Jayne Appel, Ohio State’s Jantel Lavender, and Virginia’s Monica Wright.
Moore and Charles become the third pair of UConn teammates to be named to the AP Preseason All-American Team. The others were now University of Hartford head coach Jen Rizzotti and Kara Wolters in 1995-96 and now UConn assistant coach Shea Ralph and Svetlana Abrosimova in 2000-01.
