My experience is that Red Sox fans are way more arrogant than just about any other club. I wasn’t surprised to hear the booing, but in my opinion, the Sox are one of the best teams in baseball and consistently have been. I just wish their fans were a bit more easy to talk to instead of so cocky and abrasive.

I saw Papelbon blow a save in Septemeber 2008 against the Rays – .5 a game behind them for the Division lead. I was very disappionted, but I never, ever thought to boo him.
I was a little disappointed that Red Sox Nation did just that. I think maybe emotions got the best of some people, not that it makes it better at all.

look at some point paps was going to give up a run in the postseason…i see it as better against the angels than against the yanks or in the alcs w/ the world series on the line…i can’t believe the fans booed him …were not ny fans we don’t boo our own sad

Sometimes booing is appropriate but that was definitely not the time. I’m guessing the booing came from all the pinkhats that there were there.

I was appalled by the booing. APPALLED. Rest assured it was not from the majority of the crowd, but it was more than a smattering – and that’s too many.
