July 11th, 2009 by Ian · 18 Comments ·

2009 State Farm Home Run Derby logoThe Boston Red Sox are sending six members this season to St. Louis for the 2009 All-Star Game festivities but once again they won’t have anyone participating in the 2009 State Farm Home Run Derby.

Coverage of the event begins at 8 PM on ESPN on Monday night. I’m pretty sure you’ll be getting a glimpse of your favorite Red Sox All-Stars during the telecast.

It will definitely be quite a spectacle though as some of the games’ young and best players will be looking to entertain you with their home run hitting prowess.

ESPN will also be introducing some new technology that will allow us to see how far the home runs have traveled instantly.

All the sluggers take a back seat to St. Louis’ Albert Pujols, the envy of allllllll other teams, barr none. He will win the Home Run derby this year, go on the win the Triple Crown and the MVP. Watch him closely, the best, by far, in all of baseball!!!

  • luke bowe

cruz the brewers should have kept u they r retarted they could of had three big sluggers.

  • Ian

Now now boys, if you’re going to start calling each other names, I’m just going to have to delete the comments.

  • Mike

Its obvious that the winner in this years state farm home run derby the winner will be from one of the four national league ball clubs these four American league players just don’t have the power to do it

  • Taylor

Mike you are crazy if you think this is already locked up for the national league… I will be rooting for nelson cruz. The guy is the pick to win it. Everyone is caught up on the national league sluggers and are paying no attention to cruz’s home run swing. Go Texas!

  • Ian

I’d be surprised if Pujols doesn’t win this thing but I’ll agree that if anyone might surprise it could be Cruz. He’s got a lot of pop in his bat.

  • Randy Hummel

i am personally dissapointed that russell branyan didnt get picked he has been one of the strongest bats in the american league for the mariners and i think he deserves a chance to compete in the home run derby

  • Tank

Are u people crazy don’t u know the person who wins is the person with the sweetest swing so therefore final 2 will be Gonzalez and cruz & cruz will win

  • will

ok the american leagues hitters are not what i expect i expect josh hamilton, joe mauer, alex rodreguez, and vlad but the national leagues are power all the way

  • chris

i don’t think that the american league has a chance this year, because they are going up against albert, ryan, prince, and adrian. i am cheering for albert to win it all for the natinal league.

  • chris

sorry about misspelling national it is however hard to see in the dark

  • tom

It’s in St. Louis. Pujols has batting practice in the same stadium! He’ll put on a show for the home fans.

  • Sean

I totally agree with Randy, Russel Branyan defineitly would’ve taken the cake.

  • Paul

I do agree that cruz has a lot of pop in his bat and will probably end up with a good total but the national league bats are too much for the american league..im also rooting for albert the hometown hero but no matter who people are rooting for..no doubt it will be a good show

  • Randy Hummel

just to say to will. im sorry but vlady is gonna injured and cant hit very well right now. a pectoral tear or something the like

  • Taylor

I still like cruz to win it. My other pick is Ryan Howard; he has played in this several times and is due for a win. I personally think that pujols is too much of a lock to win and will not do anything crazy tonight, I say he throws up a decent number but gets out-slugged by others. Let’s go Nelson! Win one for Texas! We should of had it last year.

  • andrew

i think that nelson cruz shoudint make it either should brandon inge david ortiz and josh hamilton should though.

    Prince Feilder won.
