The Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins fell victim to the weather last night and it allowed the Marlins to swim out of town with a 2-1 win.
Given the fact the Red Sox knew the forecast, they probably shouldn’t have played this game last night. Almost the entire game was played with rain falling and the rain picked up as the game went on. The worst part of the night though was the 2 hour and 26 minute wait when there was no way they were going to get the game in.
I do understand the fact that the Marlins don’t come back to town but why not postpone this game until the end of the season if it’s needed or look for a common off day for both teams. It just didn’t make sense to me.
Jon Lester was on the mound last night and didn’t look like what we’ve seen as of late. His pitch count was high and he had trouble hitting his spots. He didn’t pitch that bad though as he kept the Red Sox in the game. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t allow the Red Sox to come back.
The weather isn’t supposed to be too much better for the weekend series with the Atlanta Braves as their rain expected in the Boston area all three days.
