Afternoon Red Sox Delight – 6/19

After having the rain cut short their game last night, the Boston Red Sox return to the field tonight to host another NL East foe in the Atlanta Braves.

The game tonight will start at 7:10 PM EDT and will be televised in the Red Sox television market on NESN. If you live in the Braves television market, you can catch the game on Peachtree TV. And if the television isn’t your cup of tea, you can catch the game on one of the many affiliates of the Red Sox Radio Network.

The struggles in 2009 for Daisuke Matsuzaka have not gone away yet and he could be pitching for his rotation spot tonight. On the season, Matsuzaka is 1-4 with a 7.55 ERA in seven starts. Dice-K has faced off against one Japanese pitcher in his career and tonight will mark the second time. He’s faced the Braves just once in his career and picked up the win back in 2007 where he gave up three runs in eight innings.

Kenshin Kawakami is the first Japanese pitcher in Braves history and has made 12 starts this season. He is 3-6 with a 4.54 ERA. He has never faced the Red Sox in his career. He left his last two games with the lead only to see the Braves bullpen blow it.

Fun fact: David Ortiz needs five more home runs for 300 in his career and just three RBIs for 1,000 in his career. He has also launched a new DavidOrtiz.com and a blog as well.
