For just under a year, the Boston Red Sox ruled Connecticut as the most favorite baseball team by it’s residents. But in 2009, the tide has turned as the latest Quinnipiac University Poll shows that Connecticut is once again a New York Yankees state.
In the latest poll, 42% of Connecticut residents favor the Yankees as their favorite team while 38% are Red Sox fans and just 9% are New York Mets fans.
Here is how it breaks down by county:

I would like to point out that I live in Hartford County where the Red Sox are the top dog.

Connecticut Is No Longer In A New York State of Mind [SOX & Dawgs]

This is a travesty. I’ll concede Fairfield County as New York suburbs, but doesn’t the rest of the state realize it’s in New England? And aside from that, isn’t it clear that the Yankees are THE BAD GUYS? My poor misguided home state…no wonder I left.
Maybe if you come back to the state, it will turn back around to Red Sox country.
I would like to start the move to get Jerry Remy and our VP “plain Jane” to conquer CT, one tiny town at a time… ending at Foxwoods of course.
Compare the map to last year’s. The only change that can’t be described as “noise” is in New Haven and Middlesex counties, where the Sox lost 12% and the MFYs gained 12%. That’s pretty much your difference right there.
Also, looking at the crosstabs, fc, you’ll be pleased to know that women like the Sox more than the Yankees. It’s only men who are stinking up the joint in that respect.
I guess I can shoulder some of the blame since I moved out of New Haven county and into Hartford County.
