You had to figure that UConn Huskies men’s basketball head coach Jim Calhoun might be a little irritated after the way the Huskies played on Saturday afternoon. But of course when you’re asked about something that is not relevant to the game itself, you expect Calhoun to be a little perturbed especially when it’s about his salary.
A local freelance journalist, Ken Kreyeske, asked Calhoun about his $1.6 million dollar salary with the state of Connecticut facing a $944 million budget deficit. Calhoun didn’t take too well to the question and rightly went off on Kreyeske in my opinion. Kreyeske even attacked the beat writers for not asking the question.

I believe the reporter is incorrect in speaking this topic.
Coach Calhoun is correct in the way he has handled the reporter. Let the AD question a negotiated compensation package, after this season. If the Huskies are lucky enought to make it to the FinalFour this year , the payout to the conference and the school will increase to even a higher level.
Congrats to a great coach , a great team , and a great school.
Bull$hit. If you get paid $1.6 million dollars — oh, sorry, Calhoun made sure we know he makes more than that — you better damn sure act like a professional. A bank teller has more class than this guy. No wonder athletes are used to acting like jerks — it trickles down from the top.
