The Result

The Pittsburgh Steelers came into Gillette Stadium and played a very efficient Steeler like football game that saw some good pass plays, some solid runs, excellent defense and they capitalized on turnovers and came out with their first win ever at the Razor 33-10 over the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

Pittsburgh basically took what New England gave them which in the second half was alot. You are not going to beat a good football when you play like that.  Poor special teams, poor defense, turnovers on offense just don’t lead to victories on Sundays.

New England now drops to 7-5 when they had a great opportunity to gain some ground with the Jets also losing but instead are still one game out of first in the AFC East and tied for second with Miami who beat St. Louis.  Pittsburgh improved to 9-3 on the season and are 8-1 in the conference.

Offensive Player of the Game

Pittsburgh RB Willie Parker who sat for most of the first half had 87 yards on 16 carries.

Defensive Player of the Game

Pittsburgh LB James Harrison had 7 tackles (5 solo) and two strip sacks of Matt Cassel.

Turning Point(s) of the Game

The fumble by Matthew Slater on the kick off return after the Steelers took a 13-10 lead.  It led to a Pittsburgh TD and a quick 10 point lead.  Then Cassel gets stripped sack on the next possession and Reed kicks another FG and it was a 13 point lead just like that in 2:49.

Offensive Leaders/Notes

In addition to Parker there really was none for either side.

  • They need to cut down on the turnovers.  Four turnovers on offense, all by Cassel, proved very costly.   Drops by the receivers hurt them and poorly thrown balls by the young QB stalled drives.

Defensive Leaders/Notes

  • Once again poor pass coverage was a killer and Deltha O’Neal was once again the culprit on the two TD passes.

    Offensive Leaders/Notes

“In addition to Parker there really was none for either side.”

Steve your an idiot. Ben Roethlisberger made multiple big plays.
Parker played a much lesser role.
I knew you are a biased prick.
Thanks for proving your a stupid one as well.

    Steve,
    Did you watch the game?

  • Steve

Ya I did watch. Roethlisberger threw for less than 200 yards and his rating was less than 80 so ….any moron can package highlights ESPN has a room full of them.

I did think he made some good throws especially the TD to Ward in traffic but cmon even thru youre yellow and black tinted glasses you can see he didn’t have one of his best games. He , as did the entire team, took advantage of what was given to them.

I just felt that no one had a really outstanding game for the Steelers it was really a total team effort and nothing of what I wrote is a dig at them they played very well.

  • Rudy Flyer

Took advantage of what was given to them?
With the exception of the special teams fumble, it looked like the Steelers took what ever they wanted.
Ben managed the game well after his first bogey.
For you to say that “no one had an outstanding game” is foolish.
    I agree with Thomas.

  • Ike Taylor

    I had a great game!
I would like to thank Wes Welker for “giving” me the oppertunity.

  • Steve

Ike you may want to run your stuff through spell check idiot and while you’re at it you may want to realize it was Ryan Clark who made the hit.

C’mon I know all Steelers fans arent this fucking stupid I went to college in western Pa with bunch of great Steelers fans but it seems only the douchebags have computers.

  • Steve

took advantage of what was given to them….ya they did. They created turnovers which in most cases gave them great field position and they took advantage of that and some poor pass defense and turned it into points.

I can not and will not make any excuses for how New England played, the Steelers played better, played as a team and won. I stand behind the statement that no one really on offense had an outstanding game, they all played parts in the win.
