Patriots Cheerleader High Kicked Off Squad

November 5th, 2008 by Steve · 22 Comments ·

Caitlin Davis official Patriots photo. The New England Patriots have announced that 18-year old cheerleader Caitlin Davis of Foxboro MA has been removed from the cheerleading squad after some scandalous behavior came to light through her Facebook page.

Davis, who made the squad while still officially in high school, was seen in photographs drawing on the body of an unknown passed out male with a sharpie pen along with another girl.  The persons body has several written references to penises, drawings of the little devil (the penis that is) and several visable references to Jews and at least one drawing of a sawsticka.

The photos (after the jump) came to light through a blog, onblastatlast.com, which posted them and then it was picked up by Deadspin.  When the Patriots became aware of the scandal Davis was called in and dismissed from the squad.

Some feel Davis would have been given a pass on penis drawings and the like but with all that the Kraft family does with the Anti-Defamation League once the swasticka’s and the Jewish references were brought into the picture they had no choice but to let her go.

Caitlin Davis' facebook photos

Davis, a former Foxboro High cheerleader, is scheduled to attend Johnson and Wales University in Providence RI in the Fall of 2009 as a Fashion Design and Retail Marketing major .  In an interview this summer with the Sun Chronicle she lists “community appearances ” as a reason for wanting to be a Patriots cheerleader.

Caitlin Davis and friend on Facebook.

It’s kind of ironic that on her Patriots online profile, which we saved prior its removal by the team, she lists the Lindsay Lohan movie “Mean Girls” as one of her favorite flicks.  The premise of the movie is about a group of uber popular girls who make life miserable for the other girls in school in how they treat them and act towards them.

Ed. Note: Another graduating high school senior, Becca Lewis of Methuen, had also made the squad this season but there is no profile for her amongst the cheerleaders.  I want to note that there is no evidence that she or any other Patriots cheerleader were involved with Davis.  At this time I can not find any references to why Lewis’ profile is non-existent on the Patriots Cheerleaders webpage.  The squad in the past has carried 24 cheerleaders and currently stands at 22.

The Patriots and Davis did not respond to a request from Sox & Dawgs for comment.

Although what she did was wrong. I would like to know where her parents were through all of this. How ashamed of their daughter they must be right now. What kind of morals and principals did they teach their young daughter?

I feel that the Patriots made the right decision in dismissing her. It is solely in her hands and ultimately something she is going to have to live with the rest of her life. She made the wrong decision. But above all, this kind of behavior is taught. Hate and the kind of things she wrote on that kid are taught. I’m sure her parents had a big hand in the racial slurs, the anti-seministic drawings and the utter disrespect of another human being.

  • Steve

Lori I agree with most of your statement in that behavior is taught and learned whether its from the parents or by friends or friends families. It comes from somewhere.

I also agree that they did the correct thing with dismissing her and unfortunately what was probably conceived as “a teenage prank” that was so far from well thought out will, because of the lasting power of the internet, be with her forever.

I agree the act was disrespectful and any other adjective you can use to describe it. But I also believe in redemption. I believe good people, make poor decisions. Those people learn from their poor decisions, grow from them and use them to empower themselves into bettering themselves. While I do not know Ms.Davis I would assume she is primarily a good person and will grow from this.

What I don’t agree with is asking where the parents were. These are 18 year old “adults” legal to do anything but drink alcohol and therefore no longer need or require parental supervision. They weren’t 13 or 14 when they did this, they were young adults and responsible for their own actions. But as long as she doesn’t repeat this awful act against another person in the future I feel it is unreasonable to punish her forever for one lone act of stupidity.

By the way the profile for Ms.Davis is expandable ny placing your cursor over it and clicking.

When will people learn not to post things that the public can see.

  • Steve

People with those social websites think that because the profile is private it can’t be viewed. All you need is one person who is on your list to turn you in.

  • Soxfan

Jesus who cares, she made a mistake. She is 18 and ignorrant to consequences of immature fun that she was having. You mean to tell me that she is the first one to ever write on someone thats passed out drunk?, Its funny!

  • Steve

Soxfan, its funny to extent until the anti-semetic remarks and sysmbols come into play. As I said in the post I think if it was just a bunch of penises drawn on the guy she gets asked where her head was at and stays on. When you start drawing swasticka’s on someone it’s time to go. If you don’t realize what the holocost did to a generation of Jews go rent Schindler’s list, read the Diary of Anne Frank or just go the history channel’s website and search for the holocost it’s far from cheery.

I will add this Caitlin Davis issued a statement to TMZ ( I promise I won’t go there) it says:

In a statement to TMZ, 18-year-old Caitlin Davis refuses to take responsibility for the offensive images drawn on a drunk guy who passed out at a party, because, “The kid in the picture was a ‘drunk guy who passed out and was written on,’ as his costume for the night.”

It all went down in a dorm at Boston College. Caitlin claims, “Me and my girls left the dorm and went to another house and came back to the kid passed out on the futon we were suppose to sleep on. The guys ended up drawing more on him due to the fact that he was the first one to pass out on Halloween night … At the time I had jumped in the picture with the kid, I didn’t realize what had been drawn on him, which I take responsibility for not being alert.”

She adds, “Me and my girlfirends [sic] took pictures with him because we found it humorous how badly he was drawn on.”

While it’s plausible it still shows poor judgement on her part if it’s true.

  • Ken

Caitlin Davis. You are today’s nomination for WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!

  • Cheerleader Alumni

I am a former Patriots Cheerleader and feel that the organization is WAAAY too uptight! Especially Tracy Sormanti- the coach who has been coaching for over 2 decades! They need to lighten up! Caitlin was not wise to post her pictures on facebook – but she IS 18 years old! What do you expect. They tell the girls you can only cheer for 3 years, then hire girls straight out of high school! Its ridiculous!!! The pictures were from an innocent prank on someone who had clearly passed out, but not a reflection upon the organization, more so a reflection on how poor they cast girls!

I blame the director of the cheerleaders!!! There is a lot of behind the scenes dirt many fans do not realize!

  • Soxfan

Steve, I have seen schindler’s List and am fully aware of what the holocost did, but do you SEE any swastickas in the picture? All I see at most is a star of david. Anyways, you are right about her poor judgement but I still think her punishment was a little harsh…..

  • Steve

cheerleader alumni please email me steve[at]soxanddawgs[dot]com

  • Steve

a poorly draw swasticka is on the chin in blue

  • Soxfan

that looks more like an F to me……

  • Steve

There’s a better one on the back to the right of the hand.

  • Brian

    Two swastikas, smarty.

  • Andrew

hahaha i know the kid they drew on

  • Jonathan

    WTF!!

Its a picture. Who cares. Give me a freaking break.

She is 18 at that. But, I don’t see the big deal anyway. Its just drunk kids doing what drunk kids do. Give me a break.

  • Ian

Her boyfriend wrote an email to Deadspin asking them to take down the post.

She hasn’t responded back to my request for an interview either.

  • Kelsey

hahaha oh tommy, you got a cheerleader kicked off her team.

  • Steve

Her boyfriend wrote an email to Deadspin asking them to take down the post.

Ahh yes the whole infamous email from my name is Redacted. Something tell sme though the USMC may be trying to find out who he is and exactly why he is sending threatening emails, possibly from his military email addy. Now wouldn’t that be funny.

  • Steve

The word is “Redacted” did use his military email and because it is monitored the USMC is now looking into him threatening the Deadspin folks, et al.

  • Angela

you cant find the profile about “Becca Lewis” because her name is “Becca Lucas”. I went to highschool with her in Methuen.

  • Steve

There’s no Becca listed among the cheerleaders regardless of the last name. I found some photos of her but no profile.
