During the 4th inning of yesterday’s Toronto Blue Jays versus Boston Red Sox game, Jacoby Ellsbury made a great catch off the bat of Adam Lind. It was too bad we didn’t get hear Don Orsillo make a call on it because Heidi Watney was still talking.
Terry Francona had some high words of praise for his rookie outfielder after the catch.
“He’s pretty banged up,” said the manager. “He hit his shoulder, he hit his head and he cut his eye.”
“He’s sore,” said Francona. “The fact that he stayed in and played that game, and I might be a little overdramatic, but I thought he grew up a little bit today. I’m not saying he had to, but he understood physically where we were with the rest of our team and what he can do by staying in the game. I thought that was huge.”

Thanks for posting this, I didn’t get a chance to see it but that was a great catch by Jacoby!
thanks, Ian!
Thanks much, Ian!
NESN does a poor job of managing these cut ins and have done so all year. This isnt the first time she has talked over a big play in a game. Its not all her fault as the producer needs to tell her to shut up but she also needs to watch the game and let Orsillo take over.
Many times these cut ins are useless as they were already done in the pregame or even a game or two before.
I watch baseball for the game not some bimbo telling me about whatever she was talking about. If she’s gonna babble at least put her on the screen so it does something for me. Because when she’s talking I turn my ears off.
Best comment was Remy when they were trying to get Jake’s contact back in: “This makes for riveting television.”
I hate those NESN cut-ins, with Heidi’s stilted and obvious copy reading. On the other hand, I’ve stopped watching the pregame shows because I know that anything that could possibly be of interest will be rehashed/replayed during the game.
Love the bullpen guys scouring the ground for Jacoby’s contact (and they were successful!) at the end of this clip – reminds me of mornings-after in a certain dorm room.
Y’all are very welcome.
Someone should have been yelling in her ear to shut the f up.
