The Boston Celtics seem to have found their replacement for the departed James Posey. On Friday the club announced that they signed free agent forward Darius Miles. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Miles, the third overall draft pick in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, comes to Boston after having missed the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons due to microfracture surgery on his right knee. It is very similiar to injury Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden has.Â
Miles, who is 6′9″ 235 lbs came to the NBA straight out of East St. Louis (MO) High School and has played in 416 NBA games averaging 10.6 points, 5.2 boards and 1.15 blocks per game. Miles last played three seasons ago with Portland and had a career high average in points (14.0) and also grabbed 4.6 boards per game over 40 games.
Miles was the first player in NBA History to grab All-Rookie honors coming straight from high school and he had this to say about coming to Boston:
“I’ve watched the Boston Celtics play a lot last year and loved what I saw in their teamwork and chemistry on the court and it’s the team that I want to try to resume my career with.  I am excited about having an opportunity to play on a team that I feel my personality fits with and a team that can have great success on the court.â€

Miles is out for the first 10 games of the season for a previous violation of the NBA’s drug policy according to Mike Petraglia.
ya I just saw that on the blog.
