For once Jon Lester is not called upon by the Boston Red Sox to try and end a losing streak rather this time he’s asked to just go out and pitch at least 7-8 innings tonight since the bullpen got a little extra work in last night.
Tall order, perhaps, yes, no, maybe. Lester has been the ace of the staff this season and has not lost since a loss on May 25th. He has faced the A’s 3 times this season and is 1-2 with a 4.02 ERA. His career record is the same and his career ERA is 4.32 in 5 starts lifetime.
Bartolo Colon and David Aardsma will heading to Pawtucket to make rehab appearances with Colon starting for the PawSox on Tuesday and Aardsma pitching an inning tomorrow afternoon.
Scott Boras is denying the Red Sox claim that Manny asked them if he could stay with the team.
According to Tony Massarotti, the Red Sox have offered former Cleveland Indians closer a minor league deal.
