Favre To Jets?

July 25th, 2008 by Steve · No Comments ·

FavreAccording to sources the New York Jets as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are interested in disgruntled semi-retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

The source told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that the Jets have permission to talk to Favre. My guess is that this would be to see if he were amenable to playing in the Meadowlands as he already has a contract in place through the 2010 season.

The same source also told Mortensen that Favre plans on reporting to Green Bay’s training camp this weekend.

ManginiNew York head coach Eric Mangini didn’t deny the clubs interest in the future Hall of Fame quarterback at practice on Friday.

“With all discussions, those things are internal and that really hasn’t changed,” Mangini said, adding that he and Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum talk every night about “a lot of different things” but always keep them internal.

The Packers have made several calls to NFL teams to gauge interest in anyone wanting to acquire Favre.

I said it before I’ll say it again. I think the Jets are a borderline team without him and that a guy like Favre can easily win two games a season on his own. I do not want to see him in the AFC East.
