I said zig and you zagged
According to a report on FOXSports.com, the New York Giants have agreed to trade Jeremy Shockey to the New Orleans Saints for a 2nd round and 5th round draft pick.
It doesn’t say which year but I’d assume it is for the 2009 draft.
Shockey missed the latter part of the 2007 season with a broken leg and wasn’t in Arizona for the Super Bowl which was won by the Giants (sigh).
As Jay Glazer explained, the Giants were able to make the move because of the emergence of rookie Kevin Bass who started and performed well in Shockey’s absence. Although I’m pretty sure the main reason for the deal may have had something to do with Shockey’s attitude and misguided comments about Eli Manning

The picks are 2009 picks.
Shockey wanted to be more involved in the downfield passing the Giants valued him for his run blocking.
He should enjoy playing there with Drew Brees and their pass-happy offense.
