Now here’s something you don’t see too often in a big league game. An infielder leaving the game due to an injury while warming up to start an inning.
After the end of the 4th inning, the Boston Red Sox took the field and started their infield warmups. Things seemed to be going fine until a Mike Lowell throw was short to Kevin Youkilis and bounced into Youk’s eye.
Youk’s eye blew up like he was hit by a Mike Tyson punch from back in the late 80’s. He would end up leaving the game and be replaced by Brandon Moss.
Youk was sent to the hospital for a precautionary CT-scan and there’s been no word as of yet as to the severity or if he will miss any time.
Why not Sean Casey you ask? Well Casey decided to drop the appeal of his 3-game suspension stemming from the brawl with the Rays and was not available, thus leaving Moss to take over at first for the 1st time in his big league career.
Here is the video goodness (if you can call it that) of the incident.

His CT-scan was negative and he will be reevaluated when he gets to the ballpark today.
Hiiiilarious.
Thanks for posting that.
You’re welcome.
