Ichiro Makes Catch Of Our Lifetimes

May 27th, 2008 by Ian · 5 Comments ·

In the 5th inning of last night’s Boston Red Sox versus Seattle Mariners game, Jason Varitek crushed a ball from Felix Hernandez to deep center field. Initially, it looked as though the ball was going out of the ballpark but as Ichiro tracked the ball down, you could tell it wasn’t going to leave the ballpark.

Rather than me describing the catch, I will just let you see it for yourself.

All I can say is WOW! The best part was him holding his hat on with the ball in his hand.

“All right! I made the catch! Wait, my hat is falling off…Nooooooo!”

I was there and saw that catch! It was absolutely amazing!

I saw that on tv last nite. Unbelievable catch. The thing I had to chuckle at was Jerry Remy commenting on him holding onto his hat. Well, when one hits his head he automatically reaches his hand up there, the hat just happened to be there. No way was his intent to hold onto his hat. That hurt, folks and he was touching the hurt with his hand; the cap just happened to be.

You have to wonder if he thought the wall might fall on his head. No matter what he though, it was an amazing catch and at that point kept them in the game.
