We haven’t heard much about Rosevelt Colvin since the linebacker was released a while back by the New England Patriots. While many fans would love to see him come back, it appears at this time that is unlikely.
Currently the only teams that have been mentioned along with Colvin were initially the Buffalo Bills and lately the Indianapolis Colts. In the last month Colvin has generated a couple blog posts from a Colts fan blog and a mention in two Indy Star articles.
But what surprises me is that while mentioning the fact that Colvin has been injury prone over his career, they failed to mention that the injury that ended the 2007 season for him was ruptured achilles, which is very difficult to come back from.
At this point as teams head into camp it appears Colvin won’t have a home at least until at some point he can prove to some team he has over come the achilles injury.
Colvin came to the Patriots as a free agent in 2002 after playing for the Chicago Bears. After being hurt in his first season with New England, he played 3 consecutive seasons without injury before going on the injured reserve in November with a foot injury.
In his five seasons in New England he recorded 203 totals tackles, 26.5 sacks, one interception, eight passes defensed, six forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He twice led the Patriots in sacks.
