In a game that was tight until the final minutes, the big story was the fourth game in a row in which Lebron James shot poorly from the floor. But once again the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to overcome it with a 88-77 win over Boston in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at the Quicken Loans Arena on Monday night.
James was awful from the floor at one point he was four of 16 but in crunch time it was two James shots that did the Green in. The first was a 25 foot three from the left wing with about 3 and half minutes to play and the other was an in your face dunk on Kevin Garnett with 1:45 to play that gave the Cavs a 9-point lead.
Once again Boston failed to come out on top on the road in the playoffs dropping to 0-5 on the road after going a league best 31-10 on the road in the regular season. Boston needs a win in Game Five at home because of the way they’re playing on the road. They’d be in deep trouble should they drop Game Five.
The Cavaliers, who tied the series at 2-2, were led by James who had a double-double with 21 points and 13 assists, Daniel Gibson had 14 points off the bench and former Celtic Wally Szczerbiak also added 14 points in the win.
The Celtics were led by Kevin Garnett’s double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo also had 15 points each in the deflating loss as the team shot a mere 39% from the floor.
The series goes back to Boston for Game Five at the TD BankNorth Garden Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
