The Boston Celtics are lucky they have home court advantage for as long as they are in the NBA Playoffs because these guys just can’t seem to win on the road as they dropped their fourth consecutive road playoff game, this one the Cleveland Cavaliers, 108-84 at “The Q” on Saturday night. Despite the loss, the Celtics lead the series 2 games to 1.
The Cleveland Cavaliers came out and played mad in Game Three. They were so mad after starting off down 4-0 they went on a 32-9 run to end the first quarter with a 19-point lead.
And the Cavs didn’t let off in the second quarter either as they led by as much as 26 points, 43-17 with about 9 minutes to play in the half. Right after that the Celtics actually responded and showed signs of life by going on a 16-5 run to cut the deficit to 15 with just under 3 minutes left. Cleveland would end up taking a 17-point lead to half at 52-35 behind 14 first half points by former Celtic Wally Szczerbiak.
The teams pretty much played status quo in the third quarter as the Cavs built the lead back to as much as 19 and saw it shrink to 14 before ending the quarter up 16, 79-63.
Cleveland quickly built the lead up to 19 again early in the final quarter when Joe Smith hit a jumper. Doc Rivers called time out to try to regroup his team but it was to no avail as Cleveland held off the Green the rest of the way to get it’s first win of the series in convincing fashion.
Cleveland was led by Delonte West and Lebron James who each had 21 points, Smith had 17 points and Szczerbiak added 16 points.
Kevin Garnett led Boston with 17 points, Paul Pierce had 14 points and Kendrick Perkins chipped in 12 points.
Game Four is Monday night at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

Thank god for home court advantage.
