Sorry for the delay. I got caught up watching White Men Can’t Jump.
Curt Schilling made his first throws of the season today during his rehab. He made 25 throws from 60 feet and will repeat it again on Thursday. Schilling said he felt “awkward” but nonetheless was pleased. Schilling had checked in earlier today before he threw at 38 Pitches.
“I didn’t have any (expectations). There aren’t any expectations right now. It’s all about how I feel. Getting through each day. We had a lot of work after I threw today, got through that fine. I’m sure we’re going to come to a point where there is going to be some discomfort. The father out that day is the better off we’ll be. I don’t know when that’s going to be. Hopefully it won’t be. I think I’m smart enough to understand it’s going to happen at some point, if it happens in September after I’ve thrown eight, 10, 12 games OK. If it happens May or june when I’m starting to ramp up to play long toss than that’s not a good thing.â€
Alex Cora left the team today to head to Pawtucket to begin his rehab assignment tomorrow. He also managed to get a ticket for tonight’s Celtics-Cavaliers playoff game, leaving Terry Francona quite jealous of him.
“I told him he was crazy not to take off (early),” said Francona with a smile this afternoon. “He goes with my blessing. The only thing I’m mad about is I’m not with him (at the game).”
Sean Casey will join Cora in Pawtucket for Thursday’s 12 Noon game. The plan calls for Cora to play 2nd or SS tomorrow, DH on Thursday and play 2nd or SS on Friday. Casey will play first on Thursday and DH on Friday before both rejoin the Boston Red Sox in Minnesota.
Mike Lowell’s book came out today. You can check it out here.
