The Boston Red Sox get started with a 10-game road trip in Detroit where they will play four games. Then it’s on to Minnesota to face the Twins for 4 games before ending their trip in Baltimore with a 2-game set.
If you missed Heidi Watney’s cameo yesterday on NESN, you can check it out here. She will be making her official NESN debut tonight, one I’m sure most of the Red Sox fans are looking forward to.
Curt Schilling got “Christmas in May” news today as he was told he can start playing catch. This is obviously the second step in his rehab from the shoulder issues he has.
Bartolo Colon will meet up with the Red Sox soon to go over his outing from today with pitching coach John Farrell and the medical staff. He went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while throwing 19 pitches. He then finished his outing off in the bullpen by throwing 16 pitches.
As announced yesterday, Craig Hansen is up with the Red Sox, replacing Brandon Moss on the roster who was placed on the 15-day DL after undergoing an appendectomy Saturday night. Hansen is going to be counted upon heavily in the Red Sox bullpen, especially with the struggles of Manny Delcarmen in middle relief. If Hansen steps up, he could become a key cog in the bridge to Jonathan Papelbon along with Hideki Okajima.
The Detroit Tigers released Jacque Jones today and called up Matt Joyce to replace him on the roster. Is this the shakeup that Jim Leyland had been talking about?

Heidi whatsherface makes my brain hurt. Give me more Amalie Benjamin, at least she knows what she’s talking about.
Not impressed with Heidi’s interviewing skills just yet. she seemed nervous during the interview with the Mayor. She was much better in the Edes segment.
viva la cinco de mayo ….buenos noches.. looks like the sox have recovered. dice k looks like he’s improved a bit from last year…looks like the yanks are playing possum…for now. beckett is back and its nice to see schilling throwing the ball again….its all good ….sox and yanks fans need to play nice…i can’t believe people are getting killed over this…stupid its just a game…
Dice-K looked like he was improved until tonight with those 8 walks. Although after the game, they said that he was still fighting the effects of the flu and they were lucky to get 5 innings out of him.
