The whole world is on this kick to go green. Well on Sunday afternoon in Boston the TD BankNorth Garden was nothing but green as the Boston Celtics left no doubt as to who had the best record in the NBA this season as they routed the Atlanta Hawks 99-65 in a decisive Game Seven.
The game started as a typical Celtics game they had built an 11 point lead after the first quarter and increased it to 18 at the half 44-26.
And as the Celtics have also done all season they came out of the dressing room and blew the doors off the visitors from Georgia stunning the young Hawks by outscoring them 35-17 in the frame to build a 36 point lead heading into the final quarter.
The game was not without it’s chippiness though as Atlanta’s Marvin Williams, was who playing hurt, got ejected for a flagrant foul when he put a Ted Nugent type stranglehold on Boston’s Rajon Rondo.
With the offensive explosion by the Green head coach Doc Rivers was able to take his big players out and did so shortly after the start of the fourth quarter.
Boston, which advances to play the defending conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, was led by Paul Pierce who had 22 points and Kevin Garnett had a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Leon Powe contributed 12 points off the bench and Kendrick Perkins had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Atlanta, who played the entire game without any passion or commitment, only put two players into double figures as Joe Johnson had 16 points, Saleem Stoudamire had 10 points and rookie Al Horford had 8 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
Cleveland comes to town for the conference semifinals, Game One is scheduled for Tuesday night at the TD BankNorth Garden at 8p.

Williams looked like a defensive back or safety making that tackle on Rondo. And the best part of it all was Williams saying he was trying to hold up Rondo on the way down, which he wasn’t.
Hopefully this 7-game series didn’t wear them down too much for LBJ and his court.
Marvin Williams tackle of Rajon Rondo.
Kevin Garnett can expect a large fine from the NBA for his throat slashing gesture after his third quarter dunk.
