The Boston Celtics righted the ship in Game Five in Boston as they took it to Atlanta 110-85 at the TD BankNorth Garden Wednesday night to take a 3-2 series lead.

The Celtics built a 15 point half time head and maintained it for most of the 3rd quarter despite the fact that Atlanta’s Joe Johnson had more free throw attempts through three quarters then the entire Boston team. In fact Atlanta finished with more than twice the amount of charity attempts than Boston for the game.

Paul Pierce who got in foul trouble late in the fourth quarter led the Green with 22 points, Kevin Garnett had 20 and Ray Allen chipped in with 19 as six Celtics went into double figures.

Johnson, the former Celtic, had 21 points for Atlanta. Josh Smith added 18 points and Al Horford had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The series heads back to Atlanta for Game Six Friday night at 8 p.m with a chance for Boston to advance to the conference semifinals.
