After trading the 7th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft to the New Orleans Saints for the 10th pick overall, the New England Patriots used that pick to take linebacker Jerod Mayo from Tennessee.
Mayo had 140 tackles last year with 8½ of those for a loss, with 1½ sacks and 1 interception last year for the Volunteers.
Reiss’s Pieces has the analysis of Mayo.

And of course Chris Berman came up with a nickname within 30 secs of the pick.
Jerod “Hold the” Mayo
I like this pick. I watched several Tennessee games this year and came away impressed with him. smart move by the front office knowing that a player the wanted would be there at ten and in the meanwhile spin into better position in a later round. The deal gives the Patriots three picks in the third round.
