Leon Powe dunks against the NetsThe Boston Celtics in their final tune up before they start the Eastern Conference Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks downed the New Jersey Nets, 105-94 in front of 18,624 at the TD BankNorth Garden on Wednesday night.

The Celtics were led by Leon Powe who had a double-double in 34 minutes off the bench with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Reserve guard Tony Allen chipped in with 18 points and Eddie House had 10 points in 16 minutes off the bench.

Boston coach Doc Rivers took the final game of the season to start 4 of the five regulars who played very few minutes. Kendrick Perkins saw the most time of the usual starters and he only played 19 minutes. Sam Cassell started in place of Rajon Rondo at point guard as Rivers gave the second year player a well deserved night off.

New Jersey was led by Richard Jefferson, the unknown child of Weezy and George, who had 24 points. Nenad Krstic had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards and Bostjan Nachbar had 11 points off the bench.

Former UConn product Marcus Williams had 4 points and 5 assists in 24 minutes while another UConn product Josh Boone did not play in the season finale.

With the win the Celtics finished the season with the second best record in franchise history at 66-16. The Nets, who dropped to 34-48, missed the playoffs.

The playoff series against the Hawks is still TBA but we do know that Games 1 and 2 will be in Boston.
