
The Boston Celtics locked down and dominated the Indiana Pacers from wire-to-wire in a 92-77 win at the TD BankNorth Garden on Wednesday night. With the win the Celtics tied the NBA best record for best single-season turnaround. They have 36 more wins than they did in 2006-07.
The Celtics jumped out to a huge first quarter lead and then expanded on it in the second frame and headed to locker room up 49-30. The usually solid 3rd quarter team was actually outscored by 3 in the quarter as the Pacers tried to climb back into the game. But the Green decided not to let them do it and cruised to the 15-point win for the 60th on the season against 15 losses.
The visitors were led by Danny Granger who had 14 points, Mike Dunleavy added 12 points but had 8 on the Pacers 20 turnovers and also got 12 points from Jermaine O’Neal as they dropped to 31-44.
Boston got 20 points and 11 rebounds from Kevin Garnett, 15 points from Ray Allen and Leon Powe had 14 points and 9 boards off the bench.
The Celtics head back to the road starting Saturday for three games beginning in Charlotte, with stops in Milwaukee on Tuesday and Washington on Wednesday.
