Unless it relates to the Patriots this will be the last recap of the NFL free agency. All the major players are pretty much signed, sealed and delivered. It took less than five days. Needless to say the pickings were mostly slim.

A pair of sure fire Hall of Famers retired from the NFL today. Green Bay QB Brett Favre, the only three-time league MVP, walks away after 17 seasons with the historic franchise. In addition to the MVP’s Favre won Super Bowl XXXI when the Packers beat the Patriots and he was on the losing side the following year in Super Bowl XXXII when the Denver Broncos won their first title. I wonder what Aaron Rodgers is feeling right now?

Oakland Raiders DT Warren Sapp also retired today after 13 NFL seasons. Sapp spent most of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XXXVII over the Raiders in Jon Gruden’s first season in Tampa. Sapp also was named to 7 Pro Bowls.

The funniest part in all of this is that Sapp and Favre had a running playful fued amongst themselves in which Sapp would say something and Favre would fire back.

RB T.J. Duckett agrees to a five year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Arizona Cardinals are trying to restructure the contract of WR Larry Fitgerald. The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly offered the Cards a 2nd round pick and CB Lido Sheppard for Fitzgerald after missing out on WR Randy Moss when he returned to the New England Patriots. They also signed DE Travis LaBoy to a 5-year contract for $22 million with $7.5 million guaranteed.

The New York Jets signed CB Andre Woolfork a former first round pick of Tennessee. Woolfork was out of football in 2007.

The St. Louis Rams signed OG Jacob Bell to a six-year contract details weren’t available.
