By now we’ve all heard or seen the comments by loudmouth Hank Steinbrenner about Red Sox Nation. For those out there who may have missed them, here they are again.
“Red Sox Nation?†Hank says. “What a bunch of [expletive] that is. That was a creation of the Red Sox and ESPN, which is filled with Red Sox fans. Go anywhere in America and you won’t see Red Sox hats and jackets, you’ll see Yankee hats and jackets. This is a Yankee country. We’re going to put the Yankees back on top and restore the universe to order.â€
As expected, the war of words has been continued as John Henry as he has responded although be it with more class.
“I’m a big Hank fan,” Henry wrote. “Just to ensure he knows how cool Red Sox Nation is, today we officially inducted him as a member of Red Sox Nation and we are sending him his membership card giving him access to an array of options including our newsletter, bumper stickers, pins, Green Monster seats and a hat personally autographed by David Ortiz.”
It’s going to be interesting to what kind of classless remark comes out of Steinbrenner in response to Henry.
Welcome to Red Sox Nation Hank. Enjoy the perks that we as members get. And on a personal note, if you’re (Hank) not going to use the Green Monster seats, I’ll gladly take them out of your hands.
I hope the Monster Seats are for opening day so he has a chance of freezing his ass off plus he gets to see the team get their World Series rings and that the hat Ortiz signed his pink.
That would be the perfect thing to do.

I really find this quite entertaining. I’m just disappointed that it was John Henry who responded and not our own moron, Larry Lucchino. If Lucchino and Hank get into a war of idiots it will definately step thisup a notch or two.
Currently ESPN has a poll on the front page of the website asking if America is a Yankee Country or a Red Sox Nation? With nearly 120,000 votes cast Boston leads 53%-47%. The only states to go pinstripe right now are NY, NJ, CT, FL, HI, NM, NV and CA.

Hank has publically declined John Henry’s offer.
Steinbrenner responded Sunday to Henry’s offer and said that although he respects Henry, he has no plans to join Red Sox Nation as a card-carrying member any time soon.
“I’m not gonna join Red Sox Nation — honorary or not — I’ll respond to that later,” Steinbrenner told The Boston Globe. “Trust me I’m never going to join Red Sox Nation. But John Henry’s a great guy.”
