Normally in this spot I have some pearl of wisdom or smarmy comment for you but not tonight.
I just wanted to pass along that former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden fell at his condo last night and broke his left wrist and collarbone. Wooden is in the hospital and in good spirits and will be released shortly.
The 97-year old Wizard of Westwood is as close to a National Treasure as we may even get again. Think about it. Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Groucho Marx, Louie Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Johnny Carson, John Wooden. It just fits.
Here’s to a speedy recovery.
