As I mentioned on Sunday, DB/KR Tyvon Branch represented the UConn Huskies football team at the NFL Combine along with his teammate Donald Thomas. While Thomas’ numbers were impressive, Branch’s were as equally impressive.
Branch ended up running a 4.31 in the 40-yard dash which tied him for second best overall. WR Justin King from Penn State also ran a 4.31 40 while RB Chris Johnson from East Carolina had the fastest time at the combine with a 4.24 40. Branch also put up 19 reps of 225 lbs in the bench press.
Branch is expected to be drafted on the second day in the 4th or 5th round and is currently rated 18th out of 43 cornerbacks that are draft eligible. His 40-yard dash time though could help maybe propel him in the 3rd round. He will most definitely get drafted in April because of his speed and his special teams play. He returned two kickoffs 97-yards last year for touchdowns with the Huskies.
Here is some video goodness of the DB’s running their 40’s.
