Ashley Judd Comes To NASCAR

February 11th, 2008 by Steve · 12 Comments ·

According to some NASCAR rule Ashley Judd in a dress is dangerous. Well duh. Let me rephrase that. Ashley Judd in a dress on pit road and in the garage is dangerous. Well double duh. Geez, I feel like George W. Bush talking about how OB-GYN’s have love for their patients.

Ashley Judd and her husband Dario FranchittiLet’s try again. It is “common knowledge” that shorts, dresses, skirts, tank tops, sandals and open toe shoes are not allowed on pit road and in the garage for safety reasons. This I can see. Dropped tools, parts, flying debris, sand and small stones thrown around by car exhaust can all cause considerable injury. And having your body parts covered as much as possible is a smart move.

According to David Newton of ESPN.com there’s an apparent double standard now on pit road when it comes to Judd who, is married to NASCAR rookie Dario Franchitti, arrived on Sunday for qualifying at Daytona International Speedway wearing a low-cut black dress adorned with multicolored tulips.

Apparently NASCAR is willing to let Judd dress as she wishes, an obvious double standard, but hey they must feel no one is complaining about seeing the Kentucky Wildcat all dolled up. And seem more intent on how this might boost ratings instead of being a safety issue.

All I want to know is who is Tony Stewart going to punch out in the pits when Judd’s dress gets blown up over her head and he runs his car into the barriers because he was distracted by her “Rick Pitino Sucks” tramp stamp.

“You’re right, she does stand out in a dress,” NASCAR exec Jim Hunter said. “However, Ashley Judd would stand out if she had on a pair of overalls.”

NASCAR is just appreciative it’s Ashley wandering around the pits dressed like that and not her sister, Wynonna.
