The Boston Celtics played once again without Kevin Garnett tonight and they really could have used him as the Cleveland Cavaliers edged the Celtics 114-113 at the Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday night.
The was largely a back and forth affair for most of the night with neither team never getting a chance to open up a large lead on the other as neither team played any real defense. Both teams shot over 50% from the floor, made at least 47% of their 3’s and each team was sloppy as the Cavaliers had 18 turnovers and the Green had 19.
The Celtics were led by Ray Allen who had 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Rajon Rondo had 20 points and 7 boards and Paul Pierce, who was playing with flu, added 19 points. The Celtics also had double figure nights from Tony Allen (14) and Kendrick Perkins (12).
The Cavs (27-20) got 33 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists from LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 21 points and 10 boards. Larry Hughes chipped in with 18 points, Ira Newble had 15 points and Daniel Gibson added 11.
Boston (36-9) is back on the floor tomorrow night as they host the Los Angeles Clippers at the TD BankNorth Garden.
