Is this another case of Manny being Manny?
In an interview on Comcast Sports Net/New England on Friday with the three Red Sox players who are in Arizona training Ramirez said “if after ‘08 I don’t get an extension I’m outta here.” Ramirez has two one year options for 2009 and 2010 both for $20 million and those according to information I found online are both team options.
So we’ll see what kind of stance Red Sox management takes with Ramirez and do they exercise the options when they come up, do they try to do an extension or do they let him walk.
Unfortunately for Manny, the Red Sox control his next two years unless they decline the option at the end of the season.
Strange how this comes out just a few hours after he says he’ll be on-time for spring training.
Yup and I wouldnt have believed it but Iactually saw the interview. I think he wants to stay but he’s not adverse to playing elsewhere if that’s the deal.
What would an off-season be without at least one (minor) eruption of Mount Manny?
