
The NFL today announced it’s full slate of officials for Super Bowl XLII on Sunday.
Mike Carey was previously announced as the referee. He is an 18-year official and he will become the first black referee in a Super Bowl game.
The rest of the crew are:
- Umpire Tony Michalek
- Head Linesman Gary Slaughter
- Line Judge Carl Johnson
- Field Judge Boris Cheek
- Side Judge Larry Rose
- Back Judge Scott Helverson
Officials are picked based on their rating in the position. They must also have five years of NFL experience and previous playoff game assignments.
