In The Red Zone – Super Bowl XLII Edition Vol. 18

The NFL today announced it’s full slate of officials for Super Bowl XLII on Sunday.

Mike Carey was previously announced as the referee. He is an 18-year official and he will become the first black referee in a Super Bowl game.

The rest of the crew are:

  • Umpire Tony Michalek
  • Head Linesman Gary Slaughter
  • Line Judge Carl Johnson
  • Field Judge Boris Cheek
  • Side Judge Larry Rose
  • Back Judge Scott Helverson

Officials are picked based on their rating in the position. They must also have five years of NFL experience and previous playoff game assignments.
