UConn Is Big East Co-Champion

UConn and West Virginia are Co-Champions of the Big East

With the amazing upset of West Virginia by Pittsburgh tonight, 13-9, both West Virginia and UConn now have identical records in the Big East Conference at 5-2 and will share the Big East title. West Virginia had already clinched the BCS berth from the Big East by virtue of beating UConn and were trying to pencil themselves in the BCS National Championship game.

Now West Virginia will be playing in a BCS game but it won’t be for the National Championship. The way the Missouri-Oklahoma game is going, neither will Missouri. This should make for a very interesting BCS Selection show tomorrow night.

I believe the record books will show WVU to be the champion due to that 66-21 ass kicking in Morgantown or have you erased that from your memory?

I dont know if you saw any of Rodriguez’ post game presser you could hear the Pitt players shouting in celebration in the background while he looked absolutely stunned that the ‘Stache beat him in his own yard.

Read this story from uconnhuskies.com and it tells you they share the title.

“This is another great landmark to achieve in only our fourth year in the BIG EAST,” head coach Randy Edsall said. “It is something that nobody thought could have happened four years ago or even at the start of this season. To have it happen in year-four in the league is a great compliment to the hard work of our student-athletes, assistant coaches and staff. It has been a season of milestones for us with our first national ranking, first undefeated home record, first win over a ranked team, the winningest regular season in school history and a bid to a great bowl game in Charlotte. Our first BIG EAST title is yet another incredible milestone on top of the many others that we reached during the 2007 season.”

I did see that just now during halftime of the Hawaii game. He looked miserable having to do the press conference while listening to them celebrate. That game just showed you how much that team relies on Pat White although he hadn’t done much before he got hurt. Good game plan by the Pittsburgh coaching staff.

My brother just called from the Hawaii game to give me a taste of the atmosphere at the stadium. Hopefully they can come back and pull off the win here.

I dont see how a team shares the title when they got their asses kicked to me that’s pretty cheap

It happens all the time. It’s important for BCS money and you get banner up the Rent. UConn beat both USF and Pittsburgh. WVU lost to them. End of story. WVU still is the only team to represent the Big East in a BCS bowl.

Irregardless of the fact that WVU killed them, it’s the way things work. It’s a great honor for the Huskies and it will help them in recruiting for future years.
