If you believe the rumors you are hearing about Randy Edsall going to Georgia Tech, don’t. They are just rumors. With Edsall having children still in high school, odds are he won’t be leaving anytime soon.
Still with Chan Gailey getting canned at Georgia Tech and Edsall having spent a year there as defensive coordinator and the Huskies having a great season, rumors will fly.
“I’ve said it many many times,” Edsall said. “It doesn’t matter what line of work you’re in, if you have success there’s going to be rumors out there and they’re rumors.
“When you have success and you do some good things . . . that’s the nature of the business. I don’t get all caught up in it or anything like that. It’s one of those things that some of those things do happen. People come along and they want to talk to you then you’ve got to sit down and determine what’s best for you and your family just like anybody would. My profession’s no different than anybody else. I’m just like everybody else. That happens with the nature of all of our professions.”
If he was a candidate, I highly doubt that he would publicly come out and say it. After all, he is the same Edsall who walked out of a press conference after Saturday’s loss at West Virginia.
The Tampa Tribune announced it’s all Big East media team and awards yesterday and there are some Huskies on the list.
Danny Lansanah and Robert Vaughn were named to the defensive squad while Tyvon Branch was named to the special teams squad. Randy Edsall was an unanimous choice for Big East media coach of the year and the Huskies were picked as the surprise team of the Big East.

It’s not surprising to me that no one on the UConn offense was named to the team. The defense up until the last game had been the strong point of the Huskies in my opinion.

Scratch what I said about Edsall. He’s down in Atlanta meeting with Georgia Tech officials.
It be awful if he left. I just dont see why if you’re leaving UConn why you’d go to Georgia Tech? I think GT is a low-mid level ACC team where he could parlay his UConn success into a better job than GT.
George Tech is in Georgia. It’s easier to recruit. That being said… I don’t think long term it’s as good a job.
I have real mixed feelings about this. I think we could upgrade over Edsall… but it’s a crap shoot. We have a guy that’s won at UConn when all the cards were stacked against him.
This sucks the week the bowl tickets go on sale.
Yes it does suck especially too because this is a time where the coaches go out and do some recruiting.
It’s not like the Huskies are a major program and will draw in a big time coach.
I mean if he’s leaving, GT would be one of the top places…he already has roots there. Plus he deserves any offers he gets, leaving now with such a high is great for him.
On the other hand, give it another season here. They’ll have almost the same team next season, WVU and Rutgers should be weaker; they might have a legit BCS shot.
Any rumors on the next Huskies’ coach?
I have been trying to find any information on what transpired today but there’s been nothing.
The only thing I’ve found about candidates who UConn might talk to replace him are the following.

In reality how much of a step up is the Georgia Tech program. Yes it is the ACC but I don’t think it’s that big of step. Yes it’s a higher step than UConn but I think he could probably get a bigger gig then one with Jackets.
