Lost: The Red Sox bats. If found, please return to Fenway Park. The Sox threw out their best 3 pitchers and the Yankees threw out their best 3 pitchers and well heck, y’all know what happened. The Red Sox got swept out of NY. The lead in the AL East is down to 5 games. Am I worried? No. All the Red Sox have to do is keep doing the things that got them this far. There was a little bit of drama in the game and I am not talking about Terry Francona getting ejected after a judgment call by the umpires. I am talking about the ejection of Joba Chamberlain. He had a bit of the nerves and threw two fastballs over the head of Kevin Youkilis. Were they intentional? I don’t think they were. Naturally, the Red Sox think he did while the Yanks say otherwise. Should make for some interesting games at Fenway in two weeks. Baltimore comes into town, losers of 9 straight games but before they take the field for batting practice this afternoon, let’s take a look at the headlines and happenings from the Boston area and New York media on this last Friday in August.

Okay since when has MLB allowed umpires to be available to the media post game? Is this new since the botched call in the 2005 World Series. I’ve noticed it twice in the last few days.
Quote of the week: “If the young man was trying to get our attentionhe most certainly has done that”.
Translation: Jeter, Damon, ARod, Abreau and Matsui better put on all the body armour they can find and keep some water handy so they can wash the dirt out their mouths once they get back up. With guys like Beckett, who was ultra pissed I read the man’s lips, Schilling, Timlin and (oh don’t forget our resident nutcase a charter member of Carl Everett’s Crazy Hall of Fame) Julian Tavarez someone will have to pick themselves up off the ground in a few weeks. I’d be shocked if here was no retaliation. Especially seeing it was Youkilis, who has already been hit up around the head by the Yankees this year.
There will definitely be some type of retaliation in Boston. I still don’t think he was throwing at him but I do agree that Youk had every right to be upset since Proctor hit him back in April in the head.
The Yanks better hope Beckett doesn’t pitch against them because he will bean someone judging by his words when it happened.
yeah I saw several F-words a few P words and I believe he yelled out someone’s going down.
I expect and hope for retaliation from the Red Sox and boy would I love to see Beckett do it. I was thrilled at least to see some enthusiasm and excitement from this team yesterday, especially from guys like Beckett.
In my opinion, it was DEFINATELY INTENTIONAL. Joba doesn’t have great control, but he has a 0.00 ERA and to miss like that twice in a row in the EXACT SAME SPOT with the EXACT SAME PITCH is fishy to me. He could’ve seriously injured YOUK…and that would have been a major problem. My guess is that Joba wanted “to become a yankee” and earn respect, so he decided to hit someone when the game was out of reach for Boston. Maybe it was a reaction to AROD being hit before, maybe it was a reaction to YOUK running out of the baseline and arguing about it (dont know yd hed hit him for that but who knows). It was INTENTIONAL and the Sox must retaliate in some way…obviously good ol manager Joe said it was ridiculous that the umps through Joba out and it was clearly not intentional. Yea right Joe, and Clemens never intentionally through the bat @ Piazza…he thought it was the ball…yea right, like you know for a fact what Joba the hut was doing…ur wrong pal and I hope someone on your team gets hit with a nice stinger in the back…
and he’s been rightfully suspended 2 games…hopefully he has sparked the red sox in some way…and again hopefully they retaliate next time…but it was intentional and he deserves the suspension
No Wakefield tonight. Scratched from his start with a stiff back. Tavarez starts in his place and tomorrow’s starter is TBA.
Like his suspension really matters. According to the Joba rules, since he pitched two innings (well 1 1/3), he would have sat out tonight and tomorrow anyways. The fine and two game loss of pay might hurt a little even though he’s making a prorated salary from the MLB minimum of $380,000.
